Outliers Sweep Opening Series

McCALL, ID — The Park City Outliers (2-0) cruised past the McCall Smokejumpers (0-2) for the second-straight night with a 6-2 thrashing on Saturday. Familiar faces and names appeared on the scoresheet for the Outliers with four of Friday’s goal-scorers adding in tallies on Saturday, as well.

The first of these returners, Hank Hughes, chipped in a powerplay goal 6:44 into the contest. Four and a half minutes later, Andrew Brown struck through, as well. Both recorded tallies in a three-goal first period on Friday night, too.

The third puck to cross the line in the opening frame did so with just six seconds remaining. A second-year Outlier, Grant Barksdale bumped Park City to a 3-0 lead for the first of his two markers on the evening.

Just like the day before, the Smokejumpers responded with a pair of goals in the middle inning, but the Outliers cut through between those strikes. Erick Bachtle sniped his second goal of the season off of an assist from Brown.

While the slew of names appearing on the scoreboard on back-to-back nights headlined the win, the 19-year-old marked the team’s first four-point performance of the new campaign. Brown ended up complementing his goal with a trio of assists.

The Minnesota native’s final helper arrived as the secondary assist in the first score of the third period, Barksdale’s second goal. The powerplay tally aided the Outliers to a two-for-three finish on man-up opportunities on the evening. Park City heads into its first home game four-for-seven in total on the advantage.

More déjà vu, the contest ended only after Laker Pearson recorded a goal in the late minutes of the final frame. With about seven and a half left on the clock, the rookie out of Arizona sliced in his second goal of the trek.

Park City hosts its first home game at the Black Rock Event Center on Friday, Oct. 2 at 7:05 p.m. MDT against the Ventura Vikings. Fans can purchase tickets online at www.pcoutliers.com/tickets.
