Casper Trips Begins with One-Goal Loss
CASPER, WY — The late October losing spell continued for the Park City Outliers (8-4-0-0) with their third-consecutive defeat, a 4-3 falter at the start of the three-game road stand against the Casper Warbirds (4-6-2-0) on Thursday afternoon.
Without a single power play in the contest, Outliers head coach Richard Bohan emphasized the increased need for careful puck management. He recapped, “Let our forecheck go work. At times we got too slow, a little handsy, turning pucks over.”
“I talked to the guys before the game,” Bohan continued, referencing the need to increase control in the defensive zone. He followed, “… about knowing when you’ve got some time and space and knowing when to shoulder check, scanning, surveying — just having a better feel for pressure. There were times today when we didn’t have anyone around us, and we just threw pucks away, and that’s been a constant we’ve talked about for a little bit, now.”
With scores from forwards Chris Lundie, Laker Pearson, and Johnny Lee, the headman highlighted the bright spots in the loss. He said, “I thought they put themselves in some good spots to capitalize… Lundie, in particular, was pushing the pace today.”
Friday night presents another chance to run back into the win column, rematching with a Casper team that Park City has faced four times, winning twice. Puck drop for both the remaining weekend games sits at 7:00 p.m. MDT. The Outliers next host the Vernal Oilers on Sunday, Nov. 8. Puck drop stands set for 5:05 p.m. at the Black Rock Mountain Event Center. Fans can purchase tickets online at www.pcoutliers.com/tickets.
