Bloody Bachtle Bests 'Birds

CASPER, WY — Captain Erich Bachtle’s bloody nose marked a gutsy win for the Park City Outliers (9-4-0-0) 4-2 over the Casper Warbirds (3-7-2-0) on the road on Friday night, a day before Halloween.

The team leader’s two-goal performance provided the first fire power for Park City with scores in the first and second periods. Bachtle called his tallies the jumpstarter in the win. He said, “I just think I had to take over a little and show the boys really how it’s done.”

With additional goals from forward Johnny Lee and defenseman Andy Brown, Bachtle reminisced upon the mantra for the contest that snapped a three-game losing skid. He recapped, “Win your battles, win your shifts… In this game, we came through.”

Continuing about scoring in a red-stained sweater, he said, “I think it just got them pumped up as much as me. I was loving that game. It was the most fun I’ve had this whole weekend.”

Bachtle’s gritty goal preceded Lee’s nimble knife to the back of the net. Winding around a lethargic Warbirds defenseman, the 18-year-old cut over the goal line, deking into a 3-2 lead. Awed, Bachtle said that Lee’s goal looked, “… awesome. It just sealed the deal, and it was amazing from the bench, too.”
